Yesterday (February third, two thousand seventeen), Roblox surprised the shocked community with another update by changing the update system. They teared down camera-shot thumbnails and introduced default thumbnails. As usual, users angrily set the forums on fire. After a day, however, it was either just stopped or was erased by the administrators, which is what happened when there were protests about the new logo.
The new logo/thumbnail system bestows rage upon many Robloxians
I watched as protests spread like a disease around the forums; it may also be connected to a very large disliking on the new Roblox logo—a generic, simple font with "Cheez Its"* as O's. As usual, Roblox proceeded to delete the threads, likely not taking the suggestions into consideration, yet, to be fair, the community's protests often consisted of vulgar/inappropriate language. Nethertheless, however, it does prove, at least to some degree, Roblox's refusal to listen to the community's negative criticism.

One of the Roblox employees, going by the nickname "legoseed", posted and pinned this message on the forums:
"Hi everyone,
Starting today (Friday February 3) we are changing the default thumbnail system. For those of you out there with custom game icons and thumbnails this change won’t impact you at all, but if you rely on the default/auto-generated thumbnails expect a new beautiful default icon. If you prefer using your old default thumbnail, switching back is easy and completely free. We are also reducing the overall cost of thumbnail changes to help everyone find a fresh game icon they enjoy.
If you are a developer and is now seeing a default thumbnail or game icon, you use the following steps to upload a new image:
1. Go to the Develop page
2. Click to Configure Place
3. Go to the Thumbnails section and click on the new “Auto generated image (Free)” button to submit a screenshot to moderation.
This is free.
4. [Optional] Go to Game Icon and upload a new image to show up as the game icon. This is free as well.
Here is a synopsis of the changes coming and how they will impact you.
1. Auto-generated thumbnails are no longer default
2. You can switch back to an auto-generated icon for free once it has been reviewed by moderation
3. Existing custom icons will be unchanged
4. The overall cost of thumbnail updating is being reduced from 20 Robux -> 10 Robux
We hope these changes will help make default thumbnails safer and custom icons more approachable for everyone."
Unfortunately for most of the community, will not be changing the thumbnail game icon system back or similarly to before. Luckily, however, one may get their camera view thumbnail or game icon approve by a Roblox staff member—a problem with this, sadly, is that staff members are known for ignoring people when not directly spoken to, and mostly only respond to compliments, according to users around Roblox. Some speculate this will be the end of Roblox—I think that's a bit exaggerated, though.
